Muslim response to FT. Hood

If you're having trouble viewing this email, you may see it online.

For the past few years there have been numerous acts of violence in the US and other parts of the world. The common characteristic of most of these events is that Muslims were involved Below is anofficial Muslim response to the recent FT. Hood trajedy. This response is similar to those after the Jewish temple shooting and previous events. What is your reaction to this statement and what do you think should be done in addition to these apologies? I will post my opinion next week.

  1. In the Wall Street Journal of 09 Dec Exec. Dir. Al Marayati of the MPAC said that Maj. Hasan who killed 13 and injured 31 should repent!!

I assume the MPAC emails re the recent violent incidents involving Muslims are sincere. At least I hope they are.

However, wringing their hands and sending emails expressing anguish to their friends doesn't help the situation.

If we could find one or more statesmen with the courage to galvanize their colleagues in Islam to take direct action it might help. Somehow the average as well as the unhinged Muslim needs to be educated to the fact that in today's world their mythology needs revisions. The Muslim who believes a perceived religious injustice against him is authorization, in his religion, to wipe out innocent people, in the name of God, could be a place to start. The absurd notion of some Islamic world leaders that their religion justifies eliminating "unbelievers" should be on the agenda.

Sitting in their offices deploring "honor" killings, suicide bombers etc. etc may ease the consciences of the Imams but who among them dares to organize a million Muslims actively protesting, educating and persuading their fellow Islamists to join a more rational world of tolerance and a reluctance to use violence.

  2. Bill - Have you read about the recent developments in Libya? The government has persuaded an extremist faction that the terrorism of Al Queda is not true Islam.
